In The News…Kansas Beats Memphis For NCAA Title

Wow…I’m 0-3 in my Final Four predictions! I don’t feel too bad though; I’m sure that with the exception of KU fans nobody gave them a shot against Memphis. Kansas really played a great game last night, on both ends of the floor. They let Chris Douglas-Roberts do his thing and pretty much neutralized everyone else. Derrick Rose did finish the game with 18 points, but 15 of those points came in the 2nd half after he went scoreless for almost 17 minutes; he didn’t score at all in OT. The Jayhawks were also pretty much unstoppable in the paint and on the boards with a sizeable advantage over the Tigers in both categories. Memphis’ well documented struggles at the free throw line ended up being their downfall. They were ONE made FT from either CDR or Rose from a victory. Had they done that, the 3 pointer from Mario Chalmers to send the game into OT wouldn’t have made a difference.

All in all, it was a magnificent National Championship game to watch. Both teams played hard and honestly, you can’t ask for much more than that. The landscape in college basketball will probably be very different next year with a number of players expected to declare for the NBA draft; so as we close out on what has been a fabulous season of NCAA basketball, I just have one thing to say…we did it Chicago!! Shout out to Sherron Collins and Crane High School!!

Rock, Chalk, Jayhawk,KU!!!!
