In The News…Flip Saunders

Well, the hammer had to drop somewhere. When teams underachieve, the coach is usually the first to go. In a not-so-stunning move, the Detroit Pistons have parted ways with head coach Flip Saunders. In his three seasons with the team he was 176-70 in the regular season and 30-21 in the post-season and took the team to the Eastern Conference Finals every year. However, that doesn’t mean jack when you don’t get to the NBA Finals and win a championship. One ring would’ve given him job security…no rings got him fired. I think that he’s a decent coach, he may not ever win a championship but he does get the most out of his players and he has coached one of the best in Kevin Garnett. Hello Mr. Paxson and Mr. Reinsdorf, are you listening? Doesn’t this picture look better than the one that would have Doug Collins roaming the sidelines? Just a thought…
