Josh Childress To Play In Greece

Best Soccer Team<3

It looks like Brandon Jennings has started something. Josh Childress of the Atlanta Hawks has accepted a 3 year $20 million dollar deal to play in Greece for Olympiakos which was runner up in the Greek basketball league last year. On the surface, it looks like he took less money to play in Europe (the Hawks offered him a 5 year $33 million dollar deal) but financially, it makes a lot of sense. Read and learn.

For one thing, European clubs pay all of their players taxes and the $20 million is 100% guaranteed; he could also opt out at the end of each year to return to the NBA if he chooses. Secondly, if he opted to get paid in Euros (which I’m sure he did) then that’s the smartest thing about this whole deal. Why? Because one Euro in the US is worth $1.57; that means by signing this deal he just made himself an extra $11.4 million (US)! If he would’ve accepted the Hawks offer, he would’ve been taxed at 42% and only made $19 million and change. That’s not bad for a guy who averaged almost 12 points and 5 rebounds off the bench last season. When this was first being talked about on Monday, me and one my my boys discussed if Childress was actually worth this much money. We both agreed that he wasn’t. But we also agreed that if they offer it to you…take it! That amount of money should make that ugly ball and those uniforms (which are nothing more than billboards because of all of the sponsor patches) easy to get used to.

Childress has to lead the Hawks' second unit with his energy, athleticism and versatility.

1. Josh Childress is a digrace to all Americans. Just like any American that loves Europe more than America. If you love other places so much then get the hell out!!! We want true Americans living in America. Not guys that just want the glory and the money. The NBA should ban Josh Childress from ever coming back. Anybody, that supports Josh Childress is un-American. Any basketball player that follows Josh Childress to Europe is un-American. Anybody that was born in America and actually chooses to go play for another country (Chris Kaman) is un-American. You know why Americans have been losing in the olympics its because we have been kind enough to let Europeans and other foreigners into the NBA. And those spies learn from us take our American money and then go home and teach their own country how to beat us (Yao Ming). I would like to see a ban of foreign players in the NBA.

 2. the previous post is fantastic! it´s great that people like jack wilson exist. i think he should be the republican canditate for the 2008 USA presidential election. amen.
