OJ Mayo Hangs 26 On The Pacers

His work ethic is second to none as he routinely stays after practice and doesn’t leave until he’s hit 200 extra shots. In spite of all the extra work that he puts in, he came into last nights pre-season game against the Indiana Pacers in a bit of a shooting slump. Through his three previous pre-season games he’d connected on only 2 of his 14 three point attempts. He said that the reason his shooting is probably suffering is the difference in depth between the small practice gyms and the larger NBA arenas. Well all that changed last night when he went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc, putting up 26pts on 10 for 17 shooting and showing why he came into the league with a reputation as a scorer. The only issue that I see is that his scoring comes mostly on the perimeter. He needs to attack the basket more because coming into last nights game he’s only taken 7 foul shots and he didn’t go to the line at all last night. That’s what’s going to to make the difference between him averaging 14ppg which he is now, and 20+ ppg which is what he has the potential to do. But last night night was certainly a sign of great things to come.

  1. Hi, what do you think about Mayo? Is better than Neal? What about Marc Gasol? The Pau’s brother can help Memphis with rebounds, blocks and good offensive movements.

    Regards from Barcelona.

  2. Very well said. I am really psyched for the OJ Mayo
era to start tonight. Hopefully he gets the ROY and is the start of a great career.
