The Phoenix Suns Get J-Rich

j-rich-2In an effort to wake up their lethargic offense, Steve Kerr pulled off another great deal by getting Jason Richardson, Jared Dudley, and a 2nd round pick from the Charlotte Bobcats in exchange for Boris Diaw, Raja Bell and Sean Singletary. I don’t know what it is in this league with GM’s who were former teammates making trades with each other (see Danny Ainge and Kevin McHale…we know how that one turned out). I guess this is MJ’s way of making up to Steve after he punched him in the eye that one time in practice. Either way, I like this move on the part of the Suns. Jason Richardson gives them a legit 20ppg scorer and someone for Steve Nash to throw lobs to since his main target — Shawn Marion — was shipped to Miami in the Shaq deal. He’s still not happy about having to part ways with two of his friends in Diaw and Bell who Nash says was his best friend. I still don’t think their issues revolved around the personnel that they had, Terry Porter’s offense (or lack of it) is the real problem in Phoenix.

As for the Bobcats, the struggles will most definitely continue as they have now just traded their only legit scoring threat. MJ, what the heck were you thinking?! 17 months ago when you traded for J Rich, you said that he was the go-to-guy that the team needed. So how does trading him away and adding Raja Bell and Boris Diaw benefit your squad? Where are you going to get your points from now? Gerald Wallace, Raymond Felton, Emeka Okafor? Please! I swear, for somebody who was without question the G.O.A.T on the basketball court, you have to be — hands down — one of the worst personnel decision makers that I have seen in my entire life! Trading Rip Hamilton for Jerry Stackhouse? Drafting Kwame Brown #1? Drafting Sean May and Adam Morrison at all! What about picking Larry Brown to be your head coach?! Need I say more?
